Day 01 Explore Luang Prabang City and the Pak Ou Caves by boat (L)

Start with a visit of the Morning Market, a lively street where locals stock up on all sort of interesting supplies, from colorful vegetables to live frogs. From the energy of the market, we’ll then make our way to the former King’s Palace at the National Museum, where you’ll witness the history and present life of Luang Prabang. Visit the serene calm of one of the city’s most sumptuous monasteries, Wat Sen, and finally Luang Prabang’s most famous and renowned monastery, Wat Xieng Thong temple with its spectacular low sweeping stylistic roof.

Descend stairs directly from Wat XiengThong to the Mekong River to board a private traditional long-tail boat for a cruise up the Mekong River. Arrive at where the Mekong and Nam Ou Rivers meet and we’ll take lunch at a restaurant with a beautiful view of limestone cliffs and the Pak Ou Cave.

We then cross the river by and have time to explore the Pak Ou Caves adorn with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues. The Pak Ou Caves rest where the Mekong and Nam Ou Rivers meet with stunning limestone cliff and jungle scenery. There are lower and upper caves that are accessible by stairs and you’ll like to take your time to explore the area.

On our return boat trip to Luang Prabang, we’ll stop at the village of Ban Xiang Hai, where they distill local rice wine and Ban Xienglek, well known for its handmade mulberry paper and weaving. Arrive at Luang Prabang boat pier for transfer by vehicle back to your hotel to conclude this full day tour.
