Elephant Experience and Jungle Trek
1 Day | Natural Sights and Sounds
Day 01 Elephant experience and trekking to villages and waterfalls
August to January (high water season)
We start this soft adventure day around Luang Prabang with a short 20 minute drive out of town and into the Lao countryside.
Your knowledgeable and experienced local guide will bring you straight to the elephant camp for the first part of today’s activities. The elephant camp is located in the middle of a wonderful forested mountainous area at the banks of the scenic Nam Khan River. Arrive at the Elephant Village Camp and participate in a short briefing about Lao elephants and get up close and personal with elephants. Learn to communicate like a Mahout. Enjoy a 2 km trek on foot through the diverse jungle landscape and dine in the forest surroundings with our freshly prepared picnic box lunch from our camp restaurant (vegetarian options available).
Enjoy a 1 km trek leading up to Tad Sae Waterfall where you can relax or swim in its cool natural pools. Traverse the Nam Khan River in a traditional Lao long boat from the waterfall back to the Elephant Camp. You just might see traditional fishing methods and other various ways with which the local villagers make use of and enjoy the river.
Return by boat and vehicle to conclude your Laos elephant and jungle adventure between 3 and 4pm.
