Full Day Nam Khan River Kayaking

1 Day | Extended Nam Khan River Kayaking Experience

Day 01 Kayaking the Nam Khan River and Tad Sae Waterfall (L)

High water season, August to January:

Meet your guide in Luang Prabang city and drive about 40 minutes south to arrive on the banks of the Nam Khan River at Ban Suan Luang. After an equipment and safety briefing, we kayak down the river and stop at the Tad Sae Waterfalls (approx 1 hour /  5 KM) which flows directly into the Nam Khan River. The natural pools invite you for a refreshing swim. We spend 1-2 hours here as it’s a favorite attraction for locals and tourists alike.

Push off downriver to enjoy paddling through stunning panoramic views of green jungle mountains and Lao life. Take lunch along the river and continue kayaking on the flowing water through sections of mild rapids for exciting fun on the way to Gang Noun – a famous relaxing spot on the river edge featuring bamboo huts where Lao love to eat and drink.

The total kayaking is about 18 km (11 mi) with travel time varying widely but normally about 3-4 hrs. We transfer you back to Luang Prabang by vehicle.

 * Tad Sae Waterfall is low or dry from February to July
